FR Success Continues at Ampgreen Estates
The team at Lloyd Ltd Carlisle is delighted to have supplied Ampgreen Estates with a new New Holland FR780 Forager Harvester, which has been installed recently and already put to work.
Replacing their previous FR780 which has worked successfully for the past three years, this new machine has a high specification, including NIR sensors and full guidance, which has been set up with the assistance of Lloyd Ltd’s Group PLM Specialist Mark Harwood.
There are three headers which the Ampgreen team will use: one for grass silage as they were using today, and the others for maize and whole crop. The 2×16 drum achieves chop length of around 5mm which is what Ampgreen need for their anaerobic digestion (AD) plant.
“We were impressed with the reliability of the previous forage harvester over the past three years as well as with the innovations that New Holland are continually making on new equipment and specifically on the new FR to make it more efficient and add to its usability,” commented Rob Murdie of Ampgreen Estates. “The new grass pickup is a big step forward with output, productivity and efficiency, and the new cab layout is excellent for driver comfort, which will be essential when our operators are driving for up to 15 hours a day during harvest. The back-up that Lloyd Ltd have given us during the past three years has been second to none. Joe Dixon and Jimmy Little have supported us at any time of day during harvest, which has kept us going. Investing in this new machine, with their excellent support, will give us another three years of productive harvesting.”
